Jason Montgomery is a veteran educator, coach and administrator with a career spanning over 25 years. He began his journey in sports as a teacher and basketball coach, then after making his way through the collegiate ranks, as a head women’s basketball coach. In his coaching career he gained a reputation for offensively minded play leading three different collegiate programs to the top twenty in the nation rankings. He holds the single season win records at Nature Coast Tech, and Volunteer State Community College resulting in Jason being named coach of the year thirteen times throughout his career.
Jason transitioned from the sidelines to administration when he became a school-based Athletics Director at both High school and University level as well school district-wide positions. In his most recent role Jason was Athletics and Activities Director at Manatee High School (FL) where he led a nationally recognised program with 24 sports and an operating budget of well over $1 million annually. He then moved on to a district level position responsible for oversight of Manatee County’s 7 high schools and 11 middle schools. Jason comes to Doha from Polk County Public Schools (FL), one of the nation’s largest districts serving 110,000 students, where he was responsible for K-12 Physical Education curriculum as well as serving as Assistant District Athletics Director managing the district’s 31 schools’ middle grades athletic programme, and the implementation of an E-sports programme.
