At ACS International School Doha, students in Grades 6 through 8 engage in a unified learning experience that combines the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) framework that prepares them for the rigorous academic standards of the American High School Diploma pathway. The curriculum content is guided by Common Core and AERO standards, ensuring academic rigor, consistency, and international relevance.
The MYP framework supports the development of skills, attitudes, and conceptual understanding through an inquiry-based, student-centered approach. It is designed to foster critical thinking, creativity, and the ability to make interdisciplinary connections—empowering students to participate meaningfully in a dynamic and interconnected world.
At ACS Doha, MYP planning is done collaboratively across subjects and grade levels to ensure horizontal and vertical alignment. All instruction is mapped to North American benchmarks such as AERO, CCSS (Common Core State Standards), and NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards), reinforcing a cohesive learning journey.
Students explore real-world issues, with a focus on learning about the world, not just in the classroom. Through the lens of the Artemis Promise, students are encouraged to act with purpose, contribute through service, and approach learning with a sustainability mindset.
Assessment in the MYP is continuous, criterion-related, and designed to authentically reflect student growth. Teachers assess student work using IB MYP subject-specific criteria, and feedback is aligned with program objectives. Each course is graded on a 7-point scale, with 3 as the minimum passing grade.
